Neglected Aboriginal Children Need Your Help
The consequences of this past history continue to be utter despair.
To measure the depth of their hopelessness after 251 years of oppression, please consider these facts as reported by the United Nations:
Aboriginal babies are 4 times more likely to die at birth.
Aboriginal people are 17 times more likely to be arrested, 14 times more to be imprisoned, and 16 times more likely to die in custody.
Aboriginal unemployment is four times the national average.
Only 49% of Aboriginal Australians aged 15 to 64 are employed compared to around 75% of non-Aboriginal Australians.
The proportion of Indigenous Australians aged 20–24 who completed at least Year 12 or equivalent or Certificate II or above was only 66% (Productivity Commission 2019).
This despair is greatest amongst the Aboriginal youth whose suicide, imprisonment and youth pregnancy rates are amongst the highest in the world (Amnesty International).
