Adam Boyd, a Wycliffe Bible translator living in Papua New Guinea, created the Text-Critical English New Testament as part of his Text-Critical New Testaments project. The English translation, called the Byzantine Text Version, follows an 'optimal equivalence' philosophy—employing a literary style reminiscent of the Tyndale-King James legacy while flowing naturally in modern English.
The TCENT documents translatable variants from eleven editions of the Greek New Testament, as well as major manuscript families in disputed passages like the Pericope Adulterae and Revelation. Boyd has also produced companion Greek editions: The Text-Critical Greek New Testament and the Greek-English New Testament.
